Translation is charged at a rate per word. Rates vary between £0.08 per word for official document translation, up to £0.12 per word for more creative or complex texts, and depending on the subject area of the source text in question.
Editing and proofreading is charged at an hourly rate of £45 (with a time agreed upon prior to the work being completed, based on the quality of the existing text). My minimum fee, applicable to all one-off projects, is £45.

A free, no-obligation quote is always available.
Good question.
As a human translator, I have:

• A cultural and historical knowledge of the languages that influences and shapes my work, making for a more rich and multi-layered outcome.
• The ability to find and correct mistakes in a source document rather than blindly translating them.
• A long history of honing my research skills, which I use extensively in every translation (I read around the subject field and familiarise myself with terminology before I even think about starting work).
• The ability to follow a specific or evolving brief (taking guidance in tone or style, for example).
• The ability to maintain confidentiality (adhering to a GDPR privacy policy and signing a non-disclosure agreement if needed).
• The ability to use judgement and experience in conjunction with industry-leading translation memory software (not machine translation software). This allows for a more natural result.
• The ability to liaise with my clients to meet their individual needs.
My average rate for translation is between 2000 and 3000 words a day.
I am usually able to proofread between 1000 and 1500 words per hour. For editing non-native English, this can go down to around 500 words per hour.

If you decide to work with me, a non-moveable deadline will be agreed for completion.
For private clients (who work with me directly, rather than through an agency) I require full payment up front.

When working with businesses and agencies, I require full payment within 30 days of invoice.

My preferred payment method, for all clients, is via bank transfer. I can also accept payment via Paypal.
Yes, as a Qualified Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) in Spanish to English, I am able to provide certified translations in this language pair. I hope to become qualified to offer certified French to English translations in the coming year.

All official document translations are charged at £0.08 per word, with a minimum charge of £45. Certification (providing a letter and seal, plus recorded delivery) carries an additional fixed fee of £25.

All personal data requested is required for my accounting purposes only and is not shared with any third parties. It is stored on my personal home computer only (password-protected).

The documents that I translate are also stored securely on my password-protected home PC and/or laptop, in password-protected folders. They are also never shared with third parties or published / shared as work examples without your prior knowledge and consent.

I am happy to use clients’ own encrypted file transfer systems or suggested means of file transfer, and to sign non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements.

If you have any concerns about confidentiality, please get in touch to discuss these.
I ask all of my clients for the following:

• Your name, company name (if applicable) and contact information, for accounting purposes.
• A signed copy of my Terms and Conditions.
• Your source text, in an editable format if possible.
• A completed briefing form (this is a simple document which allows me to ask you relevant questions.)
I ask all private individuals and sole traders to sign a copy of the ITI model T&Cs before work is started (which can be found here).

For businesses / agencies I can accept either a purchase order or a signed copy of these
